I have been involved in the development of the protocols that enable distributed social networking in apps such as Mastodon.
As Meta’s new product, Threads, starts making its move into the social web AKA “the fediverse”, there have a been a lot of questions about what role Canadian institutions can play.
To help out, I’m doing a presentation and Q&A, organised by my colleagues at CoSocial Community Cooperative 🇨🇦, on July 31st at 7PM ET/4PM PT for Canadian media, government, non-profits and civil society to help get them started on the fediverse.
The discussion will be primarily strategic and appropriate for non-technical audiences. I can answer technical questions, but will be focused on how institutions can take better control of their presence.
